Give the people what they want!
Last night was amazing.
I cried with thousands of others in Grant Park last night, a moment in time that I will tell my grandchildren about.
Thank you, America. For the first time, I’ve been excited about our future and confident about what we can accomplish together. And thank you, Barack Obama, for reminding America that it’s what this country is about. We’d forgotten what we are capable of.
Go team USA.
About 2am, we met an african-american family on the way home who packed up all three of their young children from Indiana to witness last night. We stood together, watching Obama's acceptance speech again on the screen at the rest stop, and talked briefly about how overdue and vital this change is for our country. The kids were exhausted and no longer enthusiastic, and who could blame them. Trev and I pondered later about if they'll could ever really understand how important this is. I hope that they do. Even if it doesn't impact them consciously right now in the way it does their parents or their grandparents, it will affect their lives tremendously.
ETA: thanks to so many of you for your IM's and texts last night. My signal wavered so I couldn't reply, but I got all of them. It was great knowing we were celebrating together.

I'm so happy for the US!
It was sad, because I really wanted to just hug them all to death when they announced that Obama was elected.
I'm happy for us, and happy for the world!
